Masters winner to get $4.2 mn from $21 mn purse
Sunday's winner of the 89th Masters will receive a record top prize of $4.2 million from a record $21 million prize money purse, Augusta National announced on Saturday.
The figures break last year's marks of $3.6 million for winner Scottie Scheffler, in addition to the green jacket symbolic of Masters supremacy, and a $20 million total payout for players in the year's first major tournament.
The breakdown of winnings for this week's 89th edition of the famed golf classic under the Georgia pines also includes $2.268 million for the runner-up, $108,000 more than Sweden's Ludvig Aberg took home last year.
The third-place finisher will be paid $1.428 million with $1.008 million for fourth and $840,000 for fifth.
