Timbers sign Canada keeper Crepeau
Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers have signed Canada international goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau on a two-year deal.
Crepeau was part of Los Angeles FC's title winning team in 2022 and after returning from injury helped LAFC reach the final of MLS Cup this season where they were beaten by Columbus Crew.
The 29-year-old has signed a deal through the 2025 season with a club option for a further season.
Crepeau has played 15 times for Canada and was part of the squad which reached the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but he missed the final tournament due to injury.
The keeper returned to the national team squad for November's CONCACAF Nations League final four and had previously played at various youth levels for his country.
Before joining LAFC in 2022, Crepeau played for Canadian MLS teams Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps.
"I'm excited to welcome Max to our team. He is one of the top goalkeepers in MLS and comes with great experience of winning in the league. His big leadership qualities will make the team stronger," said Timbers head coach Phil Neville.
Portland will kick off their MLS season at home to the Colorado Rapids on February 24.
